You want to know who’s been the player of the month for the Indiana Pacers, but we’re only halfway through the month? That man is David West. I knew he was playing strong recently, and then I looked over the stats to see he’s averaging 19 points over the past ten games. With Paul George struggling, it’s great to see David West pick it up.
I would love to see David West continue to pick it up. He’s a guy that’s the heart of this team. I love when you know he’s ready to hit the game hard. I’ve said so many times, the eye test is big with me, and with West, you can get a big picture of when he’s ready to attack the game.
Last night, he puts up 25 points in 27 minutes. He didn’t even play in the fourth quarter, so he could have even added more to that total. Last night was “beast mode” for Mr. West. That’s what the Pacers need from West to start this playoff push and push through the playoffs.
Right now, West is averaging around 13 points per game, so if he can continue to pick up the scoring, that average will come up as well. I would like to see him at around 15 points as long as Paul George is doing his thing as well.
I think come playoff time there will be those moments that you call on West to put together one of those 30 point nights like we saw just a couple of games ago. He could be called upon to grab every rebound as he looks to always be around the basket. Whatever you want out of West, he’ll give you, which is the best part of his game.
