Just add to the busy All Star weekend for Paul George as he’s set to enter the Slam Dunk Contest. This is a big surprise to me as it was reported about a month ago that George was not going to enter the dunk contest. Personally, I am excited for Paul George to do as much as he can during that weekend, so I think it’s great that he changed his mind on it and will go ahead to dunk away.
He’s already hit some highlight dunks in a regular season game, so trying to put together some All Star worthy ones should be exciting for George as well.
To me, that’s the dunk of the year…so far for Mr. Paul George. He just made that look easy, so I can’t wait to see what he can throw down in this year’s contest.
Joining the field as well will be John Wall, Damian Lillard, defending champion Terrence Ross, Harrison Barnes, and rookie Ben McLemore. Not the biggest star power out there, but you have John Wall and Damian Lillard appearing in the actual All Star game as well, which I think is a good thing. You want those guys to do as much as they can to show off their skills.
Maybe this year’s dunk contest will bring back some of that intrigue it’s had in years’ past. I know people keep saying that it’s lost the luster without the “bigger” names. But I think that no matter who throws down, you’re bound to see at least something that you haven’t seen before. I look for Paul George to bring all he’s got to this contest, and let’s hope he can bring the noise to it.
