NBA All-Star Game: Indiana Pacers' Roy Hibbert in, Lance Stephenson out

An official announcement is expected to be made tonight on national television concerning the NBA All-Star Game and its reserve players, as voted in by league coaches.

Early rumbles and rumors via Twitter state that the Indiana Pacers will send at least one reserve to the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. That reserve is Roy Hibbert, and apparently, NOT Lance Stephenson. This is still an unofficial confirmation from the league.

Stephenson and Hibbert were both hoping to get an All-Star nod as they have played big roles in helping the Pacers to a 35-9 record as of Thursday night, before their matchup with the Phoenix Suns.

Below is the tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, on Stephenson’s status:

Here is what Wojnarowski had to say about Hibbert:

Although Wojnarowski decided to spoil it for the rest of us, I can assure you he did not spoil it for Hibbert and Stephenson, who are aware of the reserve selections. Hibbert is most likely happy to join Paul George, Frank Vogel and the rest of the Indiana Pacers coaching staff in New Orleans, but probably upset for his teammate, Stephenson, who also deserved a spot in the NBA All-Star Game.

Stephenson leads the NBA in triple-doubles with three and has been a catalyst in helping the Pacers to the best record in the NBA.

Lance also put together a video in hope of receiving more votes to earn the All-Star nod, in which more votes he did receive, but according to league sources and Wojnarowski, not enough to get a spot.

NBA coaches vote in who they believe should be the reserves for both the East and the West, so they are to blame (if you want to blame someone).

It is without question Stephenson will most likely play with a chip on his shoulder the rest of the season after being snubbed of an All-Star vote.

The video he made for his own promotional pleasure can be seen here.
