Post-Game Grades: Pacers End Rockets

Glory be. There are beat downs, and there are beat downs. This was one of ‘em.

There isn’t much point in running through all the happenings and occurrences that occurred and happened in this one. ‘Twas a contest in which Indiana got up big early (by 12) then lost that lead (down to like 2 or 3) then rebuilt the margin (back up to 10 pretty quickly). Then they doubled it. Then they added another 14 or so. I’m not bothering to look it up, but 34 strikes me as the high-water mark for this deluge that Danny Granger delivered from the heavens.

Well, Granger actually didn’t play particularly well at all. But he was in uniform and everyone was happy about that. So happy that they made most of their shots and stopped Houston from making theirs. Particularly James Harden, who played the poorest game I’ve seen him play in a long time. Probably, without even being flippant about it, since that terrible finals game he helped lose against LeBron when he was on the Thunder. Again, not looking it up because effort, and that should be obvious considering almost nothing I’m writing here are even sentences.

Sentences notwithstanding, all in all, great win.

And a particularly fun night spent for Tweetering while watching basketball happen. So in lieu of Grades (they all get an A+), here are some of the highlights that passed through my time line.

Haha, some of those pictures of Lance were hilarious. Great to have Granger back

  • Realist

Is it just me or does PG own Harden’s soul every time they play?

    • Realist

Meh, I was curious so I looked it up. Anyway, since the OKC trade:

      2012-13 HOU@IND (IND wins by 10)
      2012-13 IND@HOU (IND wins by 9)
      2013-14 HOU@IND (IND wins by 33)

      5/19, 17-5-7
      6/24, 22-4-8
      3/14, 12-3-2

      11/19, 31-6-3
      4/17, 16-6-3
      7/16, 24-9-4

PG 42%, JH 25%, not to mention 11 steals in those 3 games for PG. Harden still fills out the box score okay, but yeah, PG crushes.

Hmm_ I know this was a rough game for harden_but it seemed like his go-to moves on offence were shoulder-banging into ppl _elbowing ppl_ and flopping forward and throwing both his arms up in the air like he got fouled or something. Dude that’s pretty damn weak. Just sayin.

  • Derek Cooper

Great to see danny out there. He’s a pretty big dude _love trading oj and solos rookie-ish-ness for dannys veteran presence __and the second unit a whole__yea I like the looks of that. Scola needs more minutes and shots still. Wish there was room for butler to play a bit still. Still think mahinmi should just play like 8 mins only….

Best stat was the Pacers played every player on their roster (13). And every single one had a positive plus minus. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen that.

  • Joe Betz

There is no end to my fascination and love of Lance Stephenson. Please, tiny basketball gods, find money to resign this person.

  • Joe Betz

Granger with the second unit is nice. How many games before he looks like himself, though? 20? 30? Nice he has so much time to work on his game before the playoffs. He will be called to hit a few big threes and play good D on LeBron at times for sure.

    • Jack Wright

      how about 1 game lol
