The NBA Cares foundation will donate $10,000 to two charities of George Hill´s choice in recognition of his work to fight global hunger and assist military members.
In August, Hill traveled to Haiti as a representative of Kids Against Hunger to talk with children at the Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince and oversee the distribution of donations to those in need, according to The Sentinel. He has committed to make similar annual trips to help carry out the charity´s mission, according to the Pacers.
In addition, Hill has worked with Wish For Our Heroes, a charity that aids military members with financial trouble.
As Hill has been named the October 2013 winner of the Kia Community Assist Award, the two organizations will each receive $5,000 from Kia and the NBA.
“I am truly honored and blessed to be chosen to receive this award,” said Hill. “The true winners are Kids Against Hunger and Wish For Our Heroes, who will have the opportunity with this donation to continue the great work they do helping those in need. Giving back to others is a huge part of who I am and what I believe in. I would like to thank Kia and the NBA for selecting me. It truly means more than words can express.”
