George Hill to Miss Second Straight Game with Sore Hip; CJ Watson Will Start vs. Pistsons

When George Hill sat out last Saturday evening against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it allowed offseason acquisition C.J. to log his first start for the Pacers. While you never want to see any player injured, the unfortunate circumstance provided an early-season opportunity for Watson to further inject himself into the core of the rotation. And he played well, showing signs that his gritty, workman persona should fit in well with this roster.

But according to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star, Hill will miss another game tonight due to his sore hip when Indiana plays Detroit. This, coming after two consecutive off days for the Pacers, is more troubling.

Hill was lighthearted when discussing his injury status before Saturday’s game — which he hoped to play in —  but it’s not encouraging that his status remains the same for a Tuesday contest. Given Watson’s strong showing, the team is likely being cautious here, but Hill’s hip will remain something to watch for the foreseeable future.

Although according to’s Scott Agness, he may play tomorrow against the Raptors.

I dont think this is a big deal, I think George is taking his time so that this injury won’t turn into something bigger.

Obviously, I hope it’s exactly this. A fast start to our season going 4-0 (admittedly, against teams that we should beat given our role in the top 3 in the East), has allowed us to take whatever precautions we feel are best for his long-term production for the season. I just hope that it’s not going to be a lingering issue and will soon resolve itself.
