Indiana Pacers' Preseason Needs to End Already

The more I think about it, the more I am just ready to get this regular season underway. I understand preseason is where you’re supposed to be getting into form, and all of that.  I understand it’s a good chance for some of the new guys to show what they’re made of, and with the way the Pacers have played, they’ve needed all hands on deck.  But at this point, I imagine this team is just ready to play games for real.  I came across a great article on 1070thefan.com that really talked about how draining this preseason has been for the team.  There was also a fantastic point made in this article, in which I’ve been stating plenty around here, so it’s great to see something else make the point.

“The rebuilt second unit needs time not only to learn the offensive system and defensive principles, but also develop some kind of chemistry among the new players. Danny Granger is working his way back after missing almost all of last season with a knee condition that required major surgery.”

You’re still waiting on guys like Luis Scola and Chris Copeland to hit their form.  Even Roy Hibbert hasn’t shot the ball well. But I do believe that this team is going to be slow out of the gates, and hopefully won’t be too far behind to let this division slip away. It could be like last season, where the team just was there around .500 until it just started clicking.  This offense might have to work itself out as you work Danny Granger back into the lineup and sort out who’s the starter.

Defensively is the bread and butter of this team, so if that comes to play the right way, they should be in most games, no matter the shooting woes.  I don’t think the Pacers will be one of those high scoring high shooting percentage teams anyways, so fans will have to realize that as well.  I still believe strongly in what’s here for the team, and will believe that until they show otherwise.  It’s going to take a little bit of time, but that time and effort will pay off with what should be a successful regular season.
