The weekend is a good time to see what other sites are writing up concerning the Indiana Pacers, and I wanted to specifically look at what others are talking about concerning the Paul George max player deal. He’s been the talk of the town this week as he put his signature on a fat deal, and now the expectations will be to be worth all that time and investment. Personally, I feel like the improvements George will make show that he’ll be worth it. There wasn’t much talk that George would be leaving anyways, but now you know that fans will hold him to a new level of play. The Pacers have been searching for that “franchise player” since Reggie Miller hung up the sneakers, and now George has that chance to become that player. He’s a guy that can carry this franchise to division titles, conference titles, and hopefully a NBA title. I think even this coming season would be a huge success if the Pacers make that Finals appearance. As long as George stays healthy and shores up some small areas of his game, he’ll become the franchise player that fans have wanted. He’s that guy that you will want to see in the Blue and Gold for a long time.
The Bleacher Report have done a great job with some of these Indiana Pacer articles, and this one really talks up what Paul George can do to make his worth. The bulk of this article talks about that decision making of George, which is probably the area that needs the most improvement. You could usually tell when George makes that bad pass as he’s saying my bad down the court. If he can be smarter about passing, and cut down the turnovers, then he’ll already improve that area. It’s just something that George has to know the best way to get the guy a ball in the right position. It’s that easy right?
The answer lies in the bottom of this article that was pretty short and sweet. I always like those articles that can nail home a point right away instead of dragging out all the numbers and what they mean. If there’s a sport that really just needs to be based upon can a guy play to me, it’s basketball. And this article does in fact give a great response to this question of max deal.
This is a nice plug for the local newspaper, the Indy Star, so go give this a read, and see what you think about what Michael Pointer had to say.
