Two questions popped up in our facebook, so I wanted to tackle them right away as the answers have come quite quickly for me.
Jas M. asks “Who should be the leader for the Indiana Pacers? And who is the go to guy if not PG?”
I would go for a leader by committee. I do think that guys like Paul George, George Hill, Roy Hibbert, David West, and even Danny Granger can all be leaders for this team. At different times, each guy would have to step up and voice what they want this team to do. If you have to go with one guy, then I am going with David West as I feel like he’s that guy that possesses those qualities of a basketball leader. He’s able to control himself on the court, play strong on the court, and step up to guys when need be. I can see West being that type of guy to help guys out when he’s asked to as well. I could see him holding those team only meetings, and getting this team on the track they need to be. But I would be fine with anyone of those guys I’ve mentioned above to be this team’s leader.
As far as GO TO GUY, that to me has to be Paul George this season. He’s got those attributes that I believe will take him to that superstar level. If a guy is at that level, he’s your go to guy. He can score, defend, finish at the rim, shoot three’s, make some free throws, and the passing game is coming along. All these things point out to me what makes a guy great, and not just good. Therefore, this season is up to Paul George to make that next step to the next level.
Celine A. asks “Are there still missing pieces for the Indiana Pacers after the bench revamped and all the moves they did in the off season?”
This is the question on everyone’s mind as I keep getting it asked, but I will continue to say that I believe the bench is going to be a strong point for this team. It could be a bench that gives some production to push the Pacers toward that title run. Even if this bench is a slight improvement over last season, things could work out fine. The Pacers put in their work to bring in guys that they thought would make this team better, and I believe in the team right now.
