NBA Free Agency: Indiana Pacers Sign Chris Copeland

It might not be the huge splash that Pacer fans thought, but this is a good move to bring in a shooter in Chris Copeland. He can stretch the defense a bit as he’s accurate from three. Accurate to the tune of shooting over 40% from three point range. He hit a couple of big threes against the Pacers, so it’s like they say if you can’t beat them, join them.

This is a move that should help the Pacers fill that role of scoring. Hopefully, Chris Copeland can come in for some minutes, get some three’s up, and do whatever else he can to help the team. He’s listed as a forward position, but ended up playing a lot at the power forward position. This should give the Pacers a much different look at that position at times. It might be a smaller lineup, but one that should be able to run and gun a bit more.

There still is a bit of a need for a power player, but I don’t know if the Pacers have room for that now. There’s one roster spot open, but what about the money factor? Copeland’s deal is for two years, so it’s not a huge risk for them. I think he’ll end up playing well for the team, once they find that niche for him. I still think the Pacers need to find that tough power player, so it will be interesting to watch what the Pacers will do over the next week or so to up their roster.

Do you think this is a good move for the Pacers signing Chris Copeland?
