NBA Free Agency: Indiana Pacers Rescind Offer to Tyler Hansbrough

UPDATED: Today, ESPN.com is reporting that this offer has been rescinded, which means Tyler Hansbrough can sign with whatever team he wants to. I would believe this means the Pacers have someone in mind to bring in, but not quite sure who that is yet. Carl Landry’s name has been popping up, but I think he might need more money to come here than the Pacers can offer. Keep an eye on this as the Pacers look to fill that void of back up power forward moving ahead.

More news concerning the Indiana Pacers and one of their restricted free agents in Tyler Hansbrough. Seeing reports that Tyler Hansbrough has received the qualifying offer from the team, a move I am a bit surprised by. I would have thought the Pacers wait and match the offer of a team if there’s interest in Hansbrough. This way, the Pacers have set the bar for Hansbrough to decide where he wants to sign.

He is a guy that I enjoy having around the Pacers as he’s the energy and hustle guy. You know what you’re getting when Tyler Hansbrough gets on the floor. I would like to see his jump shot come back around as that looked to be gone last season, and if he can get that going again, he’s a threat on the floor. But in his current state, he’s a bit of a liability offensively, and with the lack of scoring on the bench of the Pacers, that would be a problem.

But if the Pacers can find that scoring threat for the bench, and Hansbrough ends up with the team, then it’s a fine move. Like I said, he knows his role on the team, even though he has stated he would like more playing time. I don’t know if he gets that here unless David West ends up leaving for another team. But I know the Pacers want to keep West around, and I believe he wants to be here too. So Hansbrough’s minutes would probably be about the same as they were before.

It will be interesting to watch what happens with this, but right now, it looks like he could be an Indiana Pacer.
