NBA Season is Complete

The Miami Heat are your back to back NBA Champions. Can’t say I am too surprised by that.  As long as they played up to the standard they’ve created, they should have won.  In that Indiana Pacers series, it took till about game seven for the Heat to finally put together that “Heat” performance. I do have a confession to make, I didn’t catch one game of the NBA Finals.  I would just look at the score center or check my twitter, but my interest for the Finals was non existent. I ended up watching two games of the Stanley Cup Final as that had actually piqued my interest.

For me, being a Pacers fan, if the Pacers aren’t in it, I don’t want to watch it.  I don’t feel that fandom for the two teams that were left. I only wanted to see the Heat lose, but I didn’t really care for the San Antonio Spurs. I like the way they play, and I know what a great franchise they are, but there’s not much there to keep me interested about that team.  It’s hard to believe that the Pacers were only one game away from that match up with the Spurs, and of course if the Pacers are there, then I’m watching each game.

But now, I can look forward to the off season, and seeing what the Pacers will do.  There’s the David West issue, what to do with Danny Granger, who they bring in as a draft pick, what to do to improve the bench, does Larry Bird make his way back as the primary concerns. I’m already excited at the prospect of what the Pacers can do next season based upon on what they have.  Paul George is going to be a star.  Roy Hibbert needs to carry over that playoff performance and showcase that throughout the regular season.  Lance Stephenson looks to be a catalyst for the team. I look forward to seeing if Orlando Johnson can get some more playing time.  If David West comes back, that would be a huge deal for the team.  If Danny Granger is healthy, he wants to start, which could shake up things.

Definitely things to enjoy about the upcoming season, and looking forward to the little bit of break from watching games, and worrying so much about what the team will do.  Now I can sit back and see what moves they will make, and comment on that.  It could be a busy off season for the team.  But it will be an off season of promise, and that’s the big thing to ask for in your team.
