NBA Playoffs 2013: Indiana Pacers Already Won this Season

Division Title. Check.  Paul George All Star.  Check.  Top Defense in the League.  Check.  Great home record.  Check.  Conference Finals Trip.  Check.  Paul George and Roy Hibbert earn votes for their defensive play.  Check.  Roy Hibbert and George Hill signed on for the foreseeable future of the Indiana Pacers. Check.  That’s just a sample of things to be happy about this Indiana Pacers’ season.  So many good things have happened during this season that no matter what in game seven, this season is a victory.  Do I want to win game seven? WELL OF COURSE. But the Pacers can’t be down about anything right now because of all the good they’ve brought back to this city. I saw it last night in Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. That was like the old days of Reggie and the playoff runs. Fans being so die hard about this team.  The chants of “he’s a flopper” to Dwayne Wade and Lebron James.  The loudness of Beat the Heat echoing throughout the building.  People just having that feeling of pride for this Pacers team.  That’s what makes this season a victory.

For me, I have been to so many games throughout the season, and I love seeing the crowds build back up.  I can remember going to games early in the season, and you could hear a pin drop.  There were decent sized crowds, but then it hit me during the Golden State Warriors game in March on a Wednesday night.  That place was packed, and the crowd was amped up. It felt like a playoff game.  Sure, that game will be remembered for the little fracas between David Lee and Roy Hibbert.  But even before that, the crowd was so ready for that game.  It surprised me so much because the Pacers and Warriors play only once or twice a year, but people were excited for that game. That’s when I knew the crowds would be back.

You saw the home crowd just rocking and rolling last night. The Pacers gave us so much to cheer for last night.  If we could all be shipped down to Miami to help them to victory in game seven, I am sure they would make it happen. Maybe Hibbert could send Area 55 down there.  But right now, this season is so much full of joy and good things are happening.  The Pacers have to be one of those uprising teams that could really battle in the Eastern Conference next season, and should be on that short list of NBA contenders for the next seasons.  Blue Collar Gold Swagger is going to be on the lips of blue for a while now.
