NBA Playoffs: Pacers Hope To Send the Hawks To Their Offseason

Wednesday night’s game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse put Indiana Pacers fans a little more at ease.  The home team was able to easily dominate the Atlanta Hawks while witnessing a series slump from key starter David West end and significant contributions from Paul George and Roy Hibbert.  Tonight Indiana looks to continue that play and closeout the series.

Pacers fans as well as I will be looking for the dominant style of defense that was displayed in Game 5 and has been coached all season by Head Coach Frank Vogel.  They were able to hold the Hawks to shooting just 31% from the field while nearly doubling that percentage themselves.  It will be important for our frontcourt to dominate the boards and control positioning in the post.

It will be important for our backcourt to also continue their efforts.  George Hill and Lance Stephenson have been having a good series overall and I am sure they will be a huge factor in tonight’s game.  In Game 5’s win Hill scored a double-double and while Stephenson was held to only eight points he snagged 12 rebounds.  Indiana out-rebounded the Hawks 51-28.

Look for Indiana to get ahead early with the combo of good shot selection and physical defense.   The Hawks have had trouble keeping their composure and I look for the Pacers to take advantage of that taking the fight to Atlanta early and often.  I see it all unraveling tonight.  Game 6 is in Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. tonight.
