As much as I know Paul George is going to be the key to the Pacers for what they can do, I am putting some pressure on Roy Hibbert to continue to perform. He’s been so much better offensively that the Pacers have to look at Hibbert and feed him the ball to get him to score. He’s got to be confident down there as it’s such a huge advantage against the Atlanta Hawks in this first round. We’ll figure out after that, but for now Hibbert could be a great benefit for the team. He could be getting 15 or more points even if he gets the ball right there at the basket. He could be huge on the boards and get put backs. He’s going to be big defensively as long as he can stay out of foul trouble.
It’s going to be important to get that confidence for Roy Hibbert. Fans can talk all they want that Hibbert needs that “Killer instinct” but I don’t think you’ll change what Hibbert is. He’s a guy that you will know how well he’s doing by his body language. The body language of most players will tell you that, but Hibbert is someone I am always watching to see how he’s in the game. Even on the bench, you can get a feel for what Hibbert is doing. He’s up off the bench to celebrate with guys, which is important. He’s there getting fans involved, especially with Area 55. He’s there to pull off a big block and get the defense going on that end.
If he can perform that way, this is going to be a good series for the Pacers. Roy Hibbert will be a big factor for the Pacers as they want to put away the Hawks quick and easy. Don’t let this thing drag out. I’d say the Pacers want to take care of the Hawks in five games, and if Hibbert performs, that should be the way it goes down. Hibbert is a guy that I really enjoy with the team, so I do feel a kinship for him. I want him to do so well, and I know he wants that as well. He’s that guy that I want a Pacer for life. If he can do what he’s been doing, that should be a reality. Roy Hibbert should be huge starting tomorrow, and I’m excited to watch him go.
