David West to Miss Sixth Straight Game with Back Woes

This has officially become troubling. At first, it just seemed like David West was an older guy who had, literally, worn down his back from, figuratively, carrying this team on his back all season. Who wouldn’t begrudge him a few nights off to heal up before the stretch run really ramped up.

But now, tonight in Houston, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, West will be sidelined for his sixth straight game after suffering what has been called a sprained lower back.

Add this to injuries that kept Lance Stephenson and George Hill out on two nights ago against the Hawks (with Hill being a game-time decision against the Rockets) — not to mention the ongoing Danny Granger saga — and this team may have some problems.

The starters are all absolutely critical for this team maintaining any semblance of an offensive attack for 48 minutes, so if these issues continue to drag on, they could drag down the team’s hopes to make the Eastern Conference Finals.
