That’s the best way I can describe it as the Pacers go ahead with a new week, and new opportunities to re-establish themselves after that beat down in Miami. As well as the Pacers played Miami in the first two games, that third one was all Miami and almost made the first two games look like they didn’t matter at all. I still want to face the Heat come playoffs time because what’s the best way to get yourself over in the playoffs by beating the best and defending champion. The game can slow down a bit in the playoffs, and the Pacers will have to do that come that time.
But for now, we’ll look ahead at this week as the Pacers have a couple of games with Western Conference teams. They have the Minnesota Timberwolves coming to town. Then Friday night, the improved Los Angeles Lakers make their visit to Indy. Just like the Orlando Magic game, where I thought the Pacers had to come out with some fire, Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves needs to be like that. I don’t think this Minnesota team is as good as they expected, therefore, the Pacers should be able to put together the right game plan to take them out. Hopefully a comfortable win to gain some confidence back.
Then the Lakers come to town, and taking out them is always a great feeling. Especially since people are getting back behind the Lakers team. Who knows how good this Lakers team is? But the Pacers have taken care of business in L.A. against them, so now it’s time to do the same at home. The Pacers will then travel to Philadelphia for a game with the Sixers, which should be a win. So just like that, the Pacers can gain three games back to build up their division lead, and make a push back into the second slot of the Eastern Conference.
It will take some games I think for this team to get back their identity that they looked to lose in Miami. That’s why I think this week is an important one. It’s key to get back that confidence, and know what your game is all about. The Pacers can get back that defensive intensity they’ve had so much. Get back some of that offensive firepower. Just get back the blue collar gold swagger look.
