Indiana Pacers News of the Day for Tuesday

A couple of notes for today as the Indiana Pacers have an off day, but still things to talk about today.  They will get back in action tomorrow night against the Boston Celtics and hopefully improve upon their impressive home court record.  Even better to improve their lead in the Central Division and on 2nd place in the Eastern Conference.

Pacers to play Preseason Games in Asia

What a great opportunity for the Indiana Pacers here as they travel to Asia for some preseason games next season.  They will be playing a game in the Philippines, where it will host it’s first ever preseason basketball game.  The Pacers also head back to Taiwan, where they traveled a couple of years ago.  I think this trip will really build up the team camaraderie as it’s such a long trip to Asia, and there they will be around each other so much while playing.   It’s also great exposure for the Indiana Pacers, who probably don’t often get that type of exposure in Europe and Asia.  Who knows what time us local fans will get to those preseason games, but a great opportunity for the Indiana Pacers none the less.

Danny Granger’s Status?

This is a bit of news as Granger had to sit out the second half of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bulls with more soreness in his knee.  Still no updated word on the condition and his availability.  But in this video, where Coach Vogel was talking after practice, he says they’re not about to shut down Granger, and see where that goes.  I think that’s so important for this Pacers team.  Even with Granger on the bench, the Pacers can benefit from his presence.  If he can come back around and provide something that’s close to his best, then they’re even better off.  But I think the team wants him there even if he’s not out playing.  He’s got a veteran presence that the players respect.  I hope for Granger’s sake, he won’t have to be “shut down” and can come back to close to healthy this season.  The Pacers are still a threat in the East without him as we’ve seen.  But just think how much better they can look with Danny Granger out there.
