NBA Trade Buzz: Danny Granger on the Trading Block?

I was browsing Twitter, and this link popped up, which of course caught my interest when I saw the words Danny Granger and trade.

I have to wonder what you could get of value in a trade for Danny Granger.  He’s a focal point of the Indiana Pacers, so he has value. But he’s also probably going to go down hill in terms of playing ability as he’s in year seven of his career.  He’s still a good scoring option for a team that’s missing that punch.

I’ll go from a fan perspective as well, and say I don’t want to trade Granger as I’ve always been a fan of his.  Plus, I love the idea of him playing his whole career as an Indiana Pacer, which I believe can happen.  He seems to really enjoy the guys around the team now, so when the time comes for a new contract, why wouldn’t he come to terms and finish off a fantastic career with one team?  He could follow in those footsteps of Jeff Foster and of course Reggie Miller.  I think for some time, Granger has wanted to be that important Pacers player, and who doesn’t love to see that?

There will be those who say he’s not the best player, but for what he can do for this Pacers team is of value enough.  If he can come back and get to his form, this team is going to be better because of it.  I think the leadership aspect is big enough for his return. Between him and David West on the floor, what more could you ask for leadership wise?  Plus he’ll want to step up in this big moments of a game. Look at the Miami Heat playoff series last year, I thought Granger was bringing his best game every time out.  If he can do that in all games, this team is better.  So I personally don’t want to see him go, but then again this is a business, and I would understand what the Pacers front office would do to better this team.
