Indiana Pacers (21-14)
New York Knicks (23-11)
The latest two games have been good revenge games for the Indiana Pacers. They beat a Milwaukee Bucks team, who’s beat them twice already this season. That Bucks team ends up canning their head coach, and now are 2-0 with the interim. Funny how life works that way. Then on Tuesday night, the Pacers got a game up on the Miami Heat in the season series. Yes it’s just regular season, but that’s a good win for this Pacers team who is trying to build up some recognition.
Now the New York Knicks are coming to town, and guess who gets to call the game for TNT? Reggie Miller. It’s his first Pacers game to call since 2005. It’s also the first national game for the Pacers, so people can see what this team is all about. Now the time is right for the Pacers to extract some revenge on the Knicks who already beat them this season.
They are catching the Knicks at the right team as well. It’s a team that’s 5-6 in the past 11 games. They’ll be missing their leading scorer and offense producer in Carmelo Anthony. Amar’e Stoudemire might see limited minutes. It’s definitely something that the Pacers have to take advantage of. Anthony was a match up nightmare for David West, so I hope that he can step it up tonight and make this his advantage.
You think how well Paul George has been playing, and now there’s a national television audience that he could showcase that to, so that’s important for his development. It would be great for him to put together a solid outing, and possibly be looked upon as an All Star selection. I think David West belongs in that conversation as well because without him, this team might not be even at .500.
The Pacers should be able to continue that momentum from the Miami game, and build up a solid outing tonight to show that Indiana is the home of basketball. It all starts and ends here. This is Indiana Pacers basketball. Did I mention Reggie Miller is calling a Pacers Knicks game? Is there anyone better suited for this?
