Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards Game Reaction

Indiana Pacers  (3-4)  89

Washington Wizards  (0-5)  85

Perhaps this is what gets the Indiana Pacers on that right track.  This wasn’t a pretty win, but it’s a win. Like the other wins that have come along, the Pacers had to grind this one out.  No team had a big lead in this game as they both battled back and forth.  Lance Stephenson got the start in this one, as the Pacers have now had their third different starting line up. But with the way Lance Stephenson has been playing, he looked to be best suited for the start.  He played well last night scoring 12 points, so I would say that he’s safe in the line up until Danny Granger comes back.

Paul George moved over to the small forward spot with the insertion of Stephenson, and he finally put together a scoring game.  Going for 20 points, that’s what people are expecting out of George.  Points. Points. Points.  He also grabbed 7 rebounds in the game continuing his improvement in that area. But people want to see Paul George score, and hopefully this game gets him going in that area.

George Hill also had a good game as he’s really stepped up to fill those shoes of Granger in his own way.  A solid outing of 8 points and 5 assists for George Hill here.  Not quite as good as he’s been in the past few games, but the way he controls this team doesn’t show up in the stats.  He’s truly becoming the leader on the floor, and I’m excited to see where this team goes because of that.

Former Indiana Pacers player A.J. Price looked to be comfortable with his new team as he put together a double double with 12 points 14 assists.  He had to step into the starting point guard role after John Wall got hurt.  Bradley Beal, one of the league’s youngest players, looked good too with his 17 points for the game.

For the Pacers this is a win they had to get.  Losing three in a row and gong against a winless team, how else could they respond? If they lost last night, imagine the rumblings you would have heard.  Even with an unimpressive win, you might hear people gripe. But this is a team that’s trying to figure things out, and once those issues get fixed, things will be good to go.
