Indiana Pacers Go Winless During Road Trip

Minnesota Timberwolves (4-1)  96

Indiana Pacers  (2-4)  94

Three road games this week, which results in three losses. Not exactly the way this Pacers team that should be contending in the Eastern Conference needs to be playing.  This loss last night was one that hurts a bit more as they lose right at the end on a play in which Gerald Green forgets where his man is, and that guy puts in a score to win the game.  How can someone let that happen?  This Pacers team has been better on defense, and that would be have been the perfect time to step up, but unfortunately, Green didn’t hold his position.

There were other things that didn’t help the Pacers’ cause in this game, like being down most of the way, and not shooting the ball way. But that last play was a sign of how this season has unfolded.  There are times on defense guys don’t know where they are supposed to be. There’s confusion within this team, and they will have to figure out what to do soon or else this won’t be that great season that most people were predicting.

There were bright spots for the Pacers as George Hill and David West carried the team to an almost win.  George Hill has really come through these last few games, and it’s going to take that effort from him the rest of the way for the Pacers to compete.  He put up 29 points in this game along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds.  He was aggressive at times, and looked to get the Pacers a win.  That’s what this whole team needs to do.  Get a win.

David West was good with his 19 points and 13 rebounds. He’s looking like he’ll get a double double every time he plays this season.  That’s great to see, and if Roy Hibbert can get back to where he should be, this is a two man tandem in the post that will be tough to compete with.

But for now, the Pacers have got to get better on defense, knowing where your man is, and making a play to stop him.  Things have to turn around soon for the Pacers or else you lose all momentum you had going into this season.  Fans get panicky quick, and if this team doesn’t string some wins together, you won’t see fans showing up.
