2011-2012 Season Recap

I thought last season, Tyler Hansbrough regressed in his play a bit.  Even looking over his season stats, his points did drop a little bit.  He also came down stat wise in rebounding.  I thought too often he would be out high on the perimeter and wouldn’t be in good positions to score.  He did put together a big scoring effort against Charlotte with 22 points.  He always seems to play well against that team, so that must be a good match up for him.  But with Hansbrough’s game, you know what you’re going to get.  Lots of physical play and he’ll go out for the hustle plays.  That’s the type of player the Pacers can use, so hopefully this coming season, he’ll be back to where his play was a couple of years ago.

2012-2013 Season Preview

I’m going to sound like a broken record with my use of the word consistency, but with most guys on the Pacers, that word comes up.  Tyler Hanbrough needs to become more consistent.  If he can go out and put up 10 points a game 5 rebounds a game each time he’s playing, that would bode well for the second unit.  That’s what the second unit is that production.  He could also play closer to the basket as I feel he’s more effective there.  There were times when he stepped back for a shot from the free throw line and hit some. But I don’t think the Pacers need him up near that line.  If they want to be a physical tough team, it could start with Hansbrough as that’s the type of player he is.  This season he should get plenty of playing time to prove his worth to the team, so it’s time to step up the game, and show he’s the same kind of play from college.  Time to get back to playing more physical and making the Pacers’ bench unit tough.
