Indiana Pacers vs Houston Rockets: Preseason Preview

Indiana Pacers vs Houston Rockets

Houston Rockets Off Season Recap

The big news for this off season was the signing of Jeremy Lin. In the process, the Rockets have moved Kyle Lowry to Toronto and Goran Dragic signed with Phoenix.  Therefore, this is Lin’s time at point guard, and with not much else there, it’s his team.  That’s good for him, but is there enough out there to know what Jeremy Lin can do for a team?  In the small sample size of a couple of weeks, sure there were good signs for Lin.  So now he’s out there to prove himself with the team that got rid of him before.  Funny how that turns around.  The Rockets also picked up Omer Asik, but is he worth the three-year $25 million contract?  When reading about that pickup, most people said no and couldn’t believe the Rockets paid that much for him.  It was all a ploy to lure in Dwight Howard, which didn’t work out. Now Houston is left with this young group of players as they got some draft picks from teams and got young players in trades.  But can these team rally around Lin and do something in the Western Conference?  The signs are pointing to no, and it could be a long season that ends with a losing record.

Indiana Pacers vs Houston Rockets Match up

This could be a good match up for the Rockets to see how their young team matches up with a contending team in the Pacers.  They’re similar in a way like the Pacers as there’s no real superstar.  Sorry Jeremy Lin, I need to see a full season of what you can do, before we throw you out there as a full fledged big time player.

That’s probably the best match up to watch as George Hill contends with Jeremy Lin.  Hill will have to be on his best defensively to stop what Lin wants to do.  I think Lin’s role with the Rockets will be huge as he’ll be called upon to score and assist, which is obviously the role of most point guards.  This role is expanded when you look at the roster of the Rockets though.  There’s not much help around Lin.

Roy Hibbert and Omer Asik could be fun, but as a Pacers fan, I’m hoping Hibbert dominates that match up and should dominate.  Looking over the rest of the Rockets roster, not many guys stand out to me. I had to look a couple of times and say who?  Therefore, Pacers should take this series from the Rockets.
