Indiana Pacers vs Detroit Pistons: Preseason Preview

Indiana Pacers vs Detroit Pistons

Detroit Pistons Off Season Recap:

Looking over the Pistons off season, I forgot that Tayshaun Prince is still there.  He’s probably the only remnant of those Pistons teams that were in the Finals earlier in the 2000′s.  Word is that Ben Wallace might want to come back for one more season, but there’s so much youth on the Pistons, there’s no room for him there.  The Pistons did clear some cap room by moving Ben Gordon and picking up Corey Maggette in the process.  This coming season will probably be a wash for the Pistons as they have no room to pick up free agents, and just have some bad players on their team.

With the stronger teams in Indiana and Chicago, the Pistons won’t be sniffing anywhere near the top of the division.  With some of the bad apples they have on their team, they might be lucky to win 25-30 games this season.  There’s some youth there in Andre Drummond, Greg Monroe, and Brandon Knight, but can Lawrence Frank play those guys enough and keep the veterans on the team happy?  That’s going to be a tough task, especially since there’s not much hope for this team.

Indiana Pacers vs Detroit Pistons Match up:

I don’t need to spend that many words on this match up as it’s not been important since both teams have lost so many players from when these teams were vying in the playoffs.  The Pacers dominated the series last season, and should do the same this time around.

The match up to watch in this series is Greg Monroe vs Roy Hibbert.  Two former Georgetown big men going at it in the post.  That will be fun.  Monroe will have to prove he’s just as good as Hibbert.  Hibbert can try to outplay Monroe to prove he’s worth the money the Pacers will be playing him over the next four years.

The Pacers took two out of the three games last season, and with the Pacers looking better this season, they should pull off the series victory.
