Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics: Preseason Preview

Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics Off Season Recap:

The Boston Celtics might have lost Ray Allen, but they kept Kevin Garnett around for a few more years.  Garnett was impressive in the playoffs, so I think it was a smart move to keep him around, even at his older age.   Many want to write off this team, but they should last year, that it’s not time yet.  Keeping Brandon Bass around should be a good boon for this team as well.  The draft picks of Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo could go either bust or success.  I think Garnett would be the perfect type of player to help mold those fellow players.  Jason Terry comes there to help bolster the bench.

I look for the Celtics to be right there in the playoffs come the end of the regular season. I can’t imagine they have much of a drop off because of losing Ray Allen.  They have some young guys to step up, and the Atlantic Division should be theirs again.

Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics Match up:

I’m surprised this is a small rivalry as these are two teams that want to make noise in the Eastern Conference. I can imagine that this season it will be something like that as people will want to write off the Celtics and the Pacers will want to make sure that happens.

Who to favor in this match up as both teams have good players at the same positions?  I think you can give a slight edge to the Celtics at point guard since Rajon Rondo is turning himself into such a clutch point guard and overall player.  He’ll go out rebound, steal, pass, and score all in the same game.  He’s a triple double machine when he puts his mind to it.  That’s a tough fight for George Hill to defend.

Then there’s Kevin Garnett to deal with even at his grizzly old age.  He got better last year as the season wore on in my mind.  That’s a tough cover for David West, so Roy Hibbert would have to help out.

I think this series ends up going back and forth. It wouldn’t surprise me if the teams met up in the playoffs, where I think you could get a great series.  The fan in my says Pacers win.  So I’m going with that as my choice for series win.
