Team USA 2012: Kevin Durant Leads the Way with 22 Points

Team USA 98  Team France  71

This might not have been a perfect performance as Team USA really needed to step up and drive more to the basket instead of settling for jump shots, and perhaps they’ll realize that as the games move on.

Kevin Durant leads the way for USA with his 22 points.  Lebron James has 8 assists to help dish out points.  Three players stepped up on the rebounding edge as Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and Tyson Chandler had 9 rebounds each.  Great to see Anthony making that type of difference as he’s not someone known as a rebounder.  Maybe these games can help turn Anthony into a more well rounded player as he’s known for scoring, but could be known for so much more if he put forth the effort.

Team France was playing with Tony Parker, who was thought to be missing the Olympics, but he was there sporting some goggles.  The US defense stepped up to stopped Parker early on, and France had no answers after that.

It’s just one win in what should be a line of wins for Team USA, and this was a good warm up as they need to work some kinks out, and should be fine down the line for this year’s Olympics.
