I’m probably not going to make a bold prediction or any bold statement with this, but this year’s Olympic Men’s Basketball team HAS to win the Gold Medal. With all their talk about how they could take on the original Dream Team, and with the talent on this roster, how could they not take the gold medal in these Olympics?
That 1992 Dream Team made it look so easy, but I think the talent of the world has caught up a bit, so this year’s road won’t be as easy. But this year’s team needs to win gold.
Lebron James the best player in the world can carry this team far just like he did with the Heat. He can add to his legacy with a gold medal in this year’s Olympics if he performs well.
There’s also Kevin Durant, a top five player, that can assist James in this quest. Chris Paul, a top five guy in MVP voting, that can runs things to get the offense going for the team.
Like I said, I don’t think this year’s team will be winning along the way by 50 points like the 1992 team, but there’s a good chance most of the road will be simple for Team USA, and they have to win the Gold.
What are your expectations for Team USA?
