Lance Stephenson Gets His Chance this Season

I’ve written a little bit about this before, but to me one of the interesting players to watch is Lance Stephenson. Here’s a guy who has some talent on the floor, but hasn’t always got the playing time to showcase that.  The way the roster looks this upcoming season, he will get plenty of time to show that.

It’s up to Lance Stephenson to prove to fans and the Pacers front office he was worth the draft pick.  He’s a guy who looks like he can see the floor well, but rushes with the way a play should unfold.  He will have to slow down that part of his game.

He can also improve upon his shooting touch, but once again, he looked passive when it came to shooting. I think he was worried about the time he was playing, so this season I would like for him to go out there and make the most no matter what happens.

Larry Bird is very high on him, so he does have some support from that end.  Fans though still think he’s a bit immature and will need to continue his turnaround in attitude.  That does go a long way around here in Indianapolis.

I did change my tune on him as he showed me those small glimpses of what he can do.  He can continue to prove that he’s a reliable point guard if he can run some time with the bench.  He can get guys in the best position to score.  He can also be aggressive going to the basket that he showed during that last game of last season against the Chicago Bulls.  In that game, he had all the confidence in the world and was able to put together a great game for himself.  That is the attitude he’ll need to bring when he enters a game.  That’s the way he should play every time out.

What are your thoughts on Lance Stephenson and how could he help the Pacers?
