Losing Ray Allen Won't Hurt Boston Celtics

Ray Allen Taking His Talents to South Beach

Looks like the power of twitter has shown again as this was something that came up in my news feed as I was browsing through twitter.  Next thing, you know it’s official and Ray Allen is heading to the Miami Heat.

But looking from the Boston Celtics perspective, it’s not that big of a loss.  He was already delegated to the bench halfway through the season, and I can’t imagine he’ll see much playing time down in Miami.

Kevin Garnett might play even harder this season to show that the Celtics can win without Allen in my opinion.  They could play with the edge of a team that lost a player who was part of their Big Three.

It’s up to Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett to carry the load.  But the Celtics will get some help with the addition of Jason Terry.  They also resigned Brandon Bass.  I don’t think the window is closing on Boston quite.

As far as Miami goes, the role Allen plays will be one of a leadership one, and someone who can come off the bench for a timely three.  But I can’t see Allen getting anymore playing time in Miami than Boston, therefore this is a chasing the ring move for Allen, who already has one.  Getting the second one is something he seems set on to solidify his already great career.
