Deron Williams is Staying with Brooklyn

Just caught the news last night of Deron Williams staying with Brooklyn, and I’m very surprised with it.  I figured he’d go somewhere that can be a contender right away.  But maybe Brooklyn is putting all their chips in getting Dwight Howard.

I will say that Deron Williams was good about making the announcement himself through the power of twitter.  He put out a tweet saying “tough decision” and a picture of the Nets logo.  That’s the way to do it. No “source” or agent or news outlet reporting it, let the actual person tell us what he’s going to do.  I respect him a lot more for that.

It should be interesting to see what the Nets can do to add those right pieces around him.  But it looks like he’ll be the face of the franchise there, and that is the best reason for him to stay put.
