NBA Western Conference Finals Game Two Preview

Oklahoma City Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs (Spurs Lead Series 1-0)

The Spurs got the best out of game one and continue their dominance in the postseason.  They’re now 9-0 in the playoffs with two games to go before tying the record for consecutive victories in the postseason.  Looking at history teams that have started the playoffs like this have gone on to the NBA Finals and won twice.  So history is on the San Antonio Spurs side.

With the way the Spurs have been playing, they don’t need history, they just need to keep playing the way they have.  Smothering defense at times and different guys stepping up to score. It was Manu Ginobili leading the way in game one with his 26 points.  But we know Tim Duncan can get a 20 point game whenever he wants.  Tony Parker really improved this season as was evident by his appearing in the MVP Finalists lists.  He was in the top five for votes there.

Some of the role players of the Spurs are scorers at times as well.  Kawhi Leonard has gotten so much better as time has worn on.  The Spurs just have everything working.

But the Thunder have been playing just as well and can steal this game if Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant get rolling along.  Both guys can easily get 30 points when they want to.  They might need both guys to put up 30 tonight to steal game two.  The Thunder put together two great quarters of basketball, but couldn’t finish the deal in the fourth quarter.  That will need to change tonight.  Playing a full game and continuing to play the way they can, and they will steal this one.

A thunderous crowd would be at home waiting for them come game three, and they could have some momentum going for that one.  I look for the Thunder to win tonight possibly by 5 points or less.  Durant will lead the scoring with 32 points.  Westbrook could add 25 or more.  And this series will be all tied up.
