Orlando Magic Season Recap

Orlando Magic  (37-29, 3rd Southeast Division, 6th Seed Eastern Conference)

Another team is eliminated from the playoffs after losing four straight games to the Indiana Pacers, the Orlando Magic might be a bit happy to end the season.  With all the Dwight Howard/Stan Van Gundy mess and then losing Howard to injury, it’s actually amazing to me, this team made the playoffs.  They put up a fight in the playoffs in some parts of the games, but ultimately bowed out after a bad fourth quarter in game five.

But what about the regular season?  From looking through the games, this Magic team had some good winning streaks, like two five game ones back in the early part of the season.  They also went the other way as they lost five straight in late March early April.

Actually, April might have been their down fall as they went 5-9 in that month. Not exactly momentum towards the playoffs.  This was without Howard, so that could be a reasonable excuse.

The playoffs came, and the Magic stole game one at Indiana with an 81-77 win.  But then came the next four games, where one game went into overtime, and the Magic came back in that game from 19 down.  But other than that, they weren’t able to do much against the Pacers with some bad shooting nights, and the big men of the Pacers taking advantage with their size.

What comes next should be interesting for this Magic team?  Personally, I don’t see why Stan Van Gundy would want to come back.  I don’t think I see Howard being there either because at this rate who knows what he wants to do and where he wants to play.  So they could be without their head coach and star player, not exactly the best way to start the season.
