Frank Vogel Finishes Fourth in ESPN's Expert Coach of the Year Voting

ESPN’s Chad Ford and Keith Lipscomb both think Frank Vogel is this season’s NBA Coach of the Year. Unfortunately for the league’s youngest coach, 28 other experts don’t. San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich was the clubhouse leader with 15 first-place votes followed by last year’s winner, Tom Thibodeau of Chicago, with 10. Memphis’ Lionel Hollins (3 votes) and Vogel (2) were the only two other coaches to be picked.

(Disclaimer: I’m not sure how many of these writers have official votes. Many do. Some don’t. But this was just an in-house exercise for Bristol.)

Personally I think Vogel certainly deserves coach of the year if you see the dramatic change that occurred from the the previous season

I would give it to Lionel Hollins before I would Frank. We had a one game better record but a far better run of heath. as they only got 735 MP from Zach Randolph. But with that said I think it should be Tom Thibodeau who had tons of talent but saw tons of games missed and still 50 wins in a 66 season.

Typical NBA beauty contest. Tibodeau I can see but Vogel is #2 at minimum. No one has done more without a player you’d consider to be a league darling.

WOW can I take back my Hollins vote after tonights Memphis choke job? It made our bad finishes the last two years in game one look like great execution.

Greg Poppovich won it and deserves it, the man is a coaching wunderkind!
