Larry Bird: "No Decision Has Been Made" on His Future with the Pacers

We try not to get into rumor mongering around here. We really do. So apologies for now running a fourth story in the past month about speculation regarding Larry Bird’s future with the Indiana Pacers. But two major outlets have said he is for sure done running this team after this season ends. And now, twice, Bird has refuted such claims.

Today, in response to a report by Ken Berger of CBS Sports again claiming he is finished, Larry reiterated the fact that he has not yet made up his mind to Indianapolis Star reporter Mike Wells.

“Once again, no decision has been made,” Bird said by phone. “I’ll sit down with my owner at the end of the season and we’ll talk about things.”

I promise this will be the last report on this topic until Larry says something definitive.

I know it’s a long shot but the selfish part of me wants Larry legend to stay. He’s done so much for this franchise I’d love to see him take the final step with us.

On a side note thanks for the great coverage this year. I’ve been a lifelong Pacers fan grew up in Indiana but live out in SF now. This site is the place I go to for Pacers info. Can’t wait for game 1.

I hope he would stay and soak up the praise and enjoy his accomplishments with this again next year, but it would be fun to shock the world and make his decision an easy one and send him off with a title.
