Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I was trying to come up with a different way of presenting this recap because this game felt different to me. It’s one the Pacers looked to be in control of and then all of the sudden lose control, only to take back the game in overtime. So here we go with the good, the bad, and the ugly of the Pacers win in Cleveland last night.

Good
The Pacers pick up a win to keep their lead on third place in the Eastern Conference. Danny Granger scored 23 points in the win,and 5 points in the overtime session. Good to see Granger still up and scoring like he should be able to. This clinched a winning record on the road for the Pacers in 8 years. This is only the fourth time since the Pacers have joined the NBA that they’ve had a winning road record. In the playoffs, you need road wins, so good to see the Pacers can play good on the road. The fact that the Pacers took this game over in overtime is a good thing.

Bad
The fact that this game went into overtime is a bad thing as the Pacers looked to be in firm control of this game during the third quarter. This leads into the ugly.

Ugly
The Cavs went on a 18-1 run through the third and fourth quarters to pull even in this game and take the Pacers out of their stride. David West had three points for the Pacers in that fourth quarter where they couldn’t seem to score at all. I believe there was a five minute scoring drought for this team. That’s one of those things that haunts this team when they hit those scoring lulls and don’t move the ball like they should.

These teams play again on Friday in the friendly confines of Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, so the Pacers should be able to put together a good game and not have this team as close as they were. I would say the Pacers win Friday night by ten or more points if they play like I know they can.
