Indiana Pacers make strong statement: 40 Points. In the 4th Quarter. 40 Points.

I had the hardest time thinking of a title for this game recap because part of me found it unbelievable the way the Pacers got back into this game. Sure being 17 points down at the end of the third quarter doesn’t seem that insurmountable given the way teams go on runs, but the way this game was unfolding, and the way Carmelo Anthony was having his way with whoever was guarding him, there were doubts for me.

But then the Pacers went on a run, and got a few points right in the beginning of that fourth quarter. Then a few more, and you realize the lead is under ten points, and that’s where even I was still thinking, oh the Knicks will probably go on some run of their own, and the Pacers might lose by single digits.

This run kept going though, and the Pacers were able to stop the Knicks from getting points as easily as they were doing. That fourth quarter alone, the Pacers put up 40 points. 40 points in a quarter is impressive, but to do it in that fourth quarter, when they play again tonight is very impressive.

Maybe the spirit of Reggie Miller was with the team as they showed the Knicks they wouldn’t beat them all three meetings this year. The win also bumped the Pacers into third place in the Eastern Conference, which would mean a first round home playoff series. How awesome would that be for this team? That feeling of the Pacers of old would be alive there.

Time to step it up tonight and make sure the Pacers get the win against the Wizards and get some momentum for this playoff run.
