Pacers Blaze a Trail Against Portland

A four game losing streak is gone thanks to a run through of the Portland Trailblazers, and the Pacers get to get win number two in a row tonight against a team ahead of them the Philadelphia 76ers. Last night’s game was another one of those wins where it felt like all Pacers stood up and made an effort to be a contributor. And how about this Lou Amundson scores a career high 21 points and snagged 8 rebounds? That’s right the guy that the Pacers traded away Brandon Rush for ends up being a huge part of the effort last night. It was awesome to hear the fans chanting LOU as he went on his scoring binge.

The Pacers as a team really stepped up their game last night as they put up second and third quarters of 29 and 27 respectively to put away this game. They win the game 92-75 by holding the Blazers to 31% shooting, almost a lowest total in the history of the Pacers. This was a defensive effort that everyone put together.

I also loved the pairing of George Hill and AJ Price. Listening to the game last night, it felt like those guys were working well together for the second unit. Hill set up a few of those scoring plays for Admundson, so the second unit gets a high five for its effort as well.

What a great team win for the Pacers, and now it’s time to string some wins together. The 76ers are in town tonight, so a win would be great there. Then the home and away series with the Knicks, who look to be a free fall after their coach resigns, would set up nicely for the Pacers to get a winning streak going. Time to wash away the small funk, and create some noise in the Eastern Conference.
