Pacers Will Pay for Backboard Boomer Broke and Rock Retros

If you haven’t heard now, the Pacers’ mascot Boomer recently took his talents to Hancock County High School to display his talents for the school’s pep rally. However, things went wrong when Boomer dunked off a trampoline during the halftime show and broke the backboard.

Luckily, no one was injured and the Pacers have announced that they will pay to replace the shattered goal.

In other news, to celebrate the ABA’s 45th anniversary, Indiana will be rocking some retro uniforms for the NBA Hardwood Classics month. They will be wearing it for the following games, via Pacers.com:

Indiana will be wearing the blue road uniforms they had when they were in the ABA from 1971-1974.

I like it. What do you guys think?

It was New Palestine High School. To the best of my knowledge, there is no Hancock County High School.

And the retro unis are sweeeeet. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of those jerseys.

  • Alex

Yeah it was new Palestine high school, along with eastern Hancock greenfield central and mount Vernon, all in Hancock county.

  • Realist

We should crank out the 1990-96 Flo-Jo jerseys, sometime.

  • Josh Dhani

Thanks for the heads up guys. I was looking at some of the sources. One said New Palestine and then on this Yahoo! post, it said something like Hancock County High School or something. I knew it didn’t sound right. Thanks for the correction!

  • Josh Dhani

    Agreed, Realist. Those were tight.

  • Lou

    Flo-Jos would be better

  • NZ Buc

I’m goping th flo-jos are the ones Indy wore with the Davis boys, Workman etc (before the pinstripes). Those are definitely my favourite – was so happy to get a Reggie throwback before heading back to nz.

  • Joey Justice

No worries, Josh. If I weren’t from around there (Shelbyville), I wouldn’t have caught it either. The Yahoo! article did open up by just calling it a “Hancock County High School”.

The flo-jo’s are definitely my favorite, but the early 70′s ABA jerseys are a not too terribly far away second. Too many great memories of the flo-jo days to make anything other than them my favorite, though.

Benny the Bull would never do this to a high school game.

he wouldn’t have payed for a new backboard? xD
