Pacers coach Frank Vogel watched his team struggle through the first two quarters. But it wasn’t some rah rah speech that woke them up. He simply “appealed to their mental toughness” during half-time to get his team out of a funk. That approach was effective to say the least as Indiana embarrassed Charlotte in the second half by a margin of 56-28 to secure a 99-77 win. It’s not often that an NBA team wins by 22 when they’re trailing at the break — especially on the second night of a back-to-back. But behind a bench that Vogel called his “energy unit,” that’s exactly what happened.
