Carmelo to Bulls, Iguodala to Nuggets? How a Three-Team Trade Like This Could Work

Many rumors have been coming up still of Carmelo Anthony joining the Chicago Bulls and Andre Iguodala getting traded as well. Iguodala was recently reported in trade rumors has teams have reportedly have contacted the Philadelphia 76ers of the All-Star wing.

The trade deadline will be coming up within a couple of months, and both of these players don’t seem to happy with the squads they are currently playing on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to be traded. But what if they could? A three-team trade could be in the making as it is possible.

Here is how it would break down:

Chicago Bulls Get: Carmelo Anthony from Denver Nuggets

Denver Nuggets Get: Andre Iguodala and Jodie Meeks from the Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers Get: Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, and James Johnson from the Chicago Bulls

I recently tested this out on ESPN.com’s NBA Trade Machine, and it came out as a success. This trade could be possible.

Adding with John Hollinger’s analysis, the Chicago Bulls would improve mostly out of this. Hollinger’s analysis puts up an estimated plus-five wins. But Chicago hasn’t seen the likes of Carlos Boozer yet, so if gets it going, Chi-Town is good to go with their big four in Derrick Rose, Anthony, Boozer, and Joakim Noah.

The Nuggets get the worst of it, despite having Andre Iguodala. Hollinger predicts an estimated decrease of eight wins. Ouch. But that is still good enough for a playoff spot, judging from the 53-29 record last season. However, it’s the tough Western Conference, so Denver may get squeaked past the eighth or seventh seed. Maybe it could be worse.

The Philadelphia 76ers will have an estimated decrease of three wins. The Sixers have a pretty good Luol Deng, but is it enough? This would also bring a big hole into the salary cap as Philly now has two big, fat contracts from Deng and Elton Brand. But they have a maturing Taj Gibson, and he could play a big factor with the big men. He will fit well along with other big men like Spencer Hawes, Brand, Thaddues Young, and Marreese Speights. James Johnson is a bit of question mark for Philly, but I guess he can be a solid scorer when he hits the city of the Brotherly Love.

I don’t expect this trade to happen, but it’s out there and it is possible to happen. It would be weird for it to happen, but hey, anything’s possible.
