Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant, both who were on the 2008 Olympics squad, say they are re-joining the team and committed to bring USA another shot at gold for the 2012 Olympics in London. USA has had two recent championships, one where Kevin Durant led USA to the FIBA World Championships and in 2008 where Kobe and company rolled to gold.

LeBron James says he is committed now and wants to play for the 2012 team. James said that Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade haven’t made a decision yet of playing on the team or not.

“I would love to be a part of that team,” James said. “If [coach Mike Krzyzewski] needs me to be a part of that team, I’m available. Hopefully I’m healthy enough to be a part of that team. Coach K has my number.”

Wade and Bosh note that July 2012 is far away, so don’t count them being there 100-percent.

“I’m just focused on right now, there’s too much going on in my life right now to try to think about that,” Bosh said. “Once the season is over and the summer comes we’ll talk about it.”

“It is a ways off, I’ve got a lot of other things to worry about that I deal with off the court,” Wade said. “I’m not there to where I have to make a decision. I’m glad those guys said that and they’re going to play for our team. When the time comes it will be made but it will be a collective decision that I’ll make with my family.”

The team will be having workouts this summer along with at least one exhibition game, too.

In other news with the Miami Heat star player, James sat out the team’s practice today. He had a reported deep shin bruise on the right side. The Heat will take on the New Orleans Hornets, who currently undefeated.

LeBron was injured during the team’s win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played through the injury, totaling up to 20 points and twelve assists.

“Right now every time you kind of flex your foot, it kind of flares up,” James said. “We’re doing everything possible to get it back to 100 percent.”

The Heat will host the New Jersey Nets, a team in which they destroyed earlier this week.
