It's Official

It’s official, Lance Stephenson will play point guard for the Indiana Pacers. Here’s more from ESPN Insider:

We’ve long been tracking the PG situation for the Pacers.

There’s been some chatter that Lance Stephenson, the team’s second-round draft pick, could play the point, placating their need to get someone by the start of next season via trade.

But in his one season at Cincinnati, he didn’t play the 1, so questions lingered about his ability to play the position — even if he played it in high school.

However Stephenson impressed during the Orlando summer league, which led to a multi-year contract from the team, which was announced Thursday.

Jeff Rabjohns of the Indy Star writes that “Stephenson is almost assured of getting meaningful time at point guard this season with starter T.J. Ford in the final year of his contract after being benched for long stretches last season, backup A.J. Price injured and Earl Watson still unsigned as a free agent.”

And David Thrope of Scouts Inc. thinks Stephenson’s time at PG in the summer league was a successful one as well:
